Analysis of gender roles in tomato production in Municipal Area Council, Abuja, Nigeria

This study analyzed gender roles in tomato production Municipal Area Council, Abuja, Nigeria. The described socio-economic characteristics of the farmers, examined activities carried out production, estimated costs and returns identified constraints faced by farmers area. A multi-stage random sampling technique was adopted a well structured questionnaire with scheduled interview were used to elicit information from one hundred twenty respondents. Descriptive statistics, gross margin analysis z-test analytical tools employed this study. Results revealed that majority (69.2%) respondents male mean age 45 years old. showed land clearing (51.8%) personal labour while their female counterpart (48.6%) family labour. Result profitability N67,083.64 N34,325.38 realized for both respectively per cropping season.
